Recording sessions at Prairie Sun Recording Studios in Cotati, California, November 14-18, 2016
The sessions for Bruce's new album, Bone on Bone, started each day at about 11am and generally lasted until about 8pm. On average two songs were recorded each day. This included listening back to the recorded tracks and making any changes or additions. Players at these sessions were: Bruce, Gary Graig, John Dymond and Ron Miles. The sessions were produced by Colin Linden.
The studio that Bruce recorded in involved three rooms. The largest room was where Bruce was set up, along with Colin and the recording console. Gary Craig, John Dymond and Ron Miles were set up in the remaining two rooms. Bruce had a clear line of sight to each of those rooms. I was free to move about from room to room so long as I remained quiet while the tracks were being recorded and made no attempts to sing along.
Prairie Sun is located on a property that was once a chicken farm. It is notable for Tom Waits having recorded his album, Mule Variations, at the studio in the late 1990s.
Big thanks to my wife, Jerri, for her continued support of these adventures.
